¡ô Mining (flowsheet)
At present, Jinchuan has three operating mines called
Longshou Mine, No.2 Mining Area and No.3 Mining Area
(previously called the Open Pit Mine).
The annual
average grade of the ore is 1.354% nickel.
The Longshou Mine started exploitation at the beginning of
1960¡¯s, adopting a shaft-ramp-tunnel developing system and
cemented undercut-and-fill stoping, and the annual output
has reached 1.43 million tons. |
The No.2 Mining Area is the most important mine of
Jinchuan Group Ltd, which was exploited from 1966, mainly
adopting the shaft-ramp-tunnel developing system and
mechanized cemented undercut-and-fill stoping method. Now
the annual output is 3.15 million tons.
Stripping of the No.3 Mining Area commenced at the
beginning of 1965. The open pit was closed in 1990s and
mining operation was converted to underground. Output of
the open pit during it service life amounted to some 30
million tons of ore with an average nickel content of
0.66%.No.4
mine is undeveloped, the reserves are 50.4 million tones with average nickel
grade of 0.47% and copper grade of 0.24%.

¡ô Ore Concentrating (flowsheet)
The Ore Concentrating Plant was put into operation in 1965 with an initial designed capacity of processing
1,200 tons of ores per day.Its current capacity has
reached 17,000 tons of ores per day after several times of
expansion and technological improvement in order to meet
the increasing material demand for the corporate growth. A
unique process of ¡°staged-grinding and
staged-flotation is operated in
the concentrator. |

¡ô Smelting & Refining (flowsheet)
Jinchuan Smelter was built in 1961, and the first batch of
electrolytic nickel was produced in 1964. Now it consists
of a Smelter, which mainly uses smelting technology, and a
Refinery, which mainly adopts a hydrometallurgical
refining system.
The Smelter undertakes smelting production from a mixture of
nickel and copper concentrate to a high grade matte. It
owns a nickel flash smelting furnace, which is the first
of its kind in china and also the biggest one in
Asia. It is designed to be capable of processing 350,000 tons of concentrate per
year.

The Refinery undertakes the refining production from the high-grade
matte to final products.Gold, silver and platinum group metals are produced as
well as nickel cathode, copper cathode, cobalt cathode and
cobalt oxide powder etc. by the Refinery. |
¡ô Chemical Engineering (flowsheet)
Jinchuan Group Ltd has a Chemical Plant for environmental protection purpose and producing chemical products. It
produces more than 10 kinds of chemicals such as sulfuric
acid, sodium sulfite, caustic soda, liquid chlorine,
hydrochloric acid and oxalic acid etc. The plant has been
one of the main inorganic chemical producers in Gansu
Province with an annual output of 750,000 tons of the
total chemicals.
